The garden takes in seawater from Tokyo Bay, where you can enjoy the change in scenery as the tide goes out.
Originally a subordinate residence of the Kofu clan, the garden was transferred to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government via the Hama-Goten, the villa of the Tokugawa shogun, and a detached palace administered by the Ministry of the Imperial Household, and was opened to the public as a metropolitan park.
In recent years, plans have been made to reconstruct several buildings that once stood in the park.
