Night drive

It’s early fall and the weather is cooler (about 25 degrees Celsius). This time I drove from Kachidoki to Haneda Airport (Terminal 3) via the Rainbow Bridge.

First, we started from Kachidoki and went northwest on Ginza.

You can see the old Tsukiji Market on the left, but the number of people there has decreased significantly due to the move to Toyosu Market and the effects of the corona virus, and it looks a little sad.

Passing through the Ginza Tsukiji Market area, you will enter Kaigan Dori with Hama Rikyu Shrine on your left. It was around 20:00 when we were driving, but there weren’t many cars on the road, so we were able to enjoy the drive.

Go to Takeshiba area and enter the Rainbow Bridge from there. The night view of the bay area is very beautiful and it is probably one of the best drives in Tokyo. After the climb, Odaiba appears on the right, and Fuji TV is lit up, which is also very beautiful.

You will enter the Odaiba area. It’s a complete change from the daytime, but at night there are fewer tourists and the atmosphere is more relaxed. Although it is famous as a tourist area, Odaiba at night is a different story as there are several tower apartments for residential use.

After passing through the Odaiba area, I headed to Haneda Airport. The rain started to fall again and hit the windshield.

This time I head to Terminal 3, one of the three terminals, which was built in 2010 and is mainly used for international flights, and is being used to house a hotel in preparation for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Narita Airport used to be the main international airport in the Tokyo metropolitan area, but it was a two-hour drive from Tokyo, which was a problem. Since the construction of Haneda Airport, access to the city center has improved dramatically (about 30 minutes by train or car), and the airport is now crowded with travelers.
